Ivan is a seasoned Marketing practitioner, specialising in collection and analysis of data from diverse sources to identify marketing insights, develop actionable marketing and communication strategies that deliver on profitable and sustainable growth.

His formal marketing career started at British American Tobacco, holding leadership roles in the marketing value chain. The introduction to marketing and business consulting came through Added Value (now Kantar Consulting), the global marketing consultancy, over 20 years ago. He led various insight and strategic marketing projects for a list of blue-chip companies across diverse industries in South Africa and other African markets. He has since held consulting leadership roles, which include Strategy Director, Managing Director and CEO at leading marketing and communications institutions like at Lowe Bull, Yellowwood Future Architects and TBWA Hunt Lascari. He later founded the marketing insights and strategic consultancy, Co-Currency, based on the philosophy and business approach of collaborating with diverse experts to deliver growth solutions for clients.

Ivan is the ex-Chairperson of the Jury for the APEX Effective, ex-Chairperson of Brand Council South Africa (BCSA) and ex-Vice-Chairperson of the Association for Communication and Advertising (ACA), ex- committee member of Effies South Africa. He continuously serve on the jury panel of Lories Awards (Shared Value, Creative Effectiveness, Service Design) and is Chairperson of Marketing Achievements Awards South Africa.

He sits on the boards of Heartlines and Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund.

He is driven by the passion for leveraging brands to grow businesses across Sub-Saharan Africa sustainably, impacting communities positively. He fundamentally believes Entrepreneurship, Tech and Innovation/Creativity individually and collectively, to be the solution for realising Africa’s full potential.
